work with Too $hort and the Dangerous Crew,

25-plus years and over 85 million records sold.
With a production list featuring some
of the industry’s most celebrated artists including
-Too Short
-Digital Underground
-T.I.,
-Rappin’ 4-Tay
-TLC
-Earth,Wind & Fire
-MC Breed
-2Pac
-Nelly
-George Clinton
-Ant Banks
-Erick Sermon
.....and several others,
Shorty B has been behind
more than a few of your favorite hits.

Now, the multi-platinum producer prepares
his next addition to the game in the form of a book,
giving you an inside look to Shorty B’s journey of
108 albums: 23 platinum, 4 gold and 2 diamond certified albums.
“The Truth B Told” brings you closer
the celebrities and icons from yesterday and today
with stories ranging from hanging with
2Pac the day before he was shot 5 times in New York:

“I was living in downtown Atlanta
in a building called the Scandinavian House.
My phone started to ring, and when I answered it,
it was 2pac saying he was down stairs.
He knew that he could chill at my place undisturbed.
It was him and a few of the little homies.
We were chilling and smoking weed,
and his phone kept ringing off the hook.
It was some people calling from Quad Studios
asking how much he wanted to do a verse
on a song for this rapper named Little Shawn.
‘Pac said he wanted about $7700 – $7800.
His phone kept ringing and they wanted
to know what time ‘Pac was coming.
‘Pac stayed at my crib the rest of
the night and most of the next day.
That following evening,
he went to the airport and boarded
a flight to New York, where he was later shot 5 times.”

to the
Suge Knight, Jake Robles, Puff Daddy incident:

“One night I was walking out of a club
in Atlanta and a white limo pulled up in front of me.
I noticed that it was Suge Knight.
I introduced myself, and he already knew who I was.
I told him my contract was over with [Too] Short,
and that I was looking for work.
I told him ‘Pac and I were close like family.
That’s when Suge introduced me to Jake Robles
and two female friends who were with them.
I gave the female that I was with my keys
and pointed to my car, which was a burgundy Benz.
Suge then asked if that was my car, and I said yes.
Suge told me he liked my style and told
Jake to give all the numbers he had to me.
I was aware that they were coming from
a party at Jermaine Dupri’s house.
Before I concluded my conversation with Suge,
I told him that Puff Daddy and a bunch
of his homies were in the club and that he should be careful.
I walked to my car, and pulled it over across the street,
directly in front of the club.
Just then, another Benz pulls up behind me and
it’s my homeboys Bobby & Keith from the bay area.
Soon after, I see people back-peddling
out of the club entrance, arguing.
I notice that it’s Suge & Jake
being surrounded by Puff’s people.
I see a guy in a light blue,
aqua green sports jacket and white pants,
a guy named Anthony “Wolf” Jones
who later gets killed outside of
club Chaos a few years later in Atlanta.
Wolf pulls out a chrome pistol and starts
shooting into Suge & Jake’s direction.
I’m actually standing inside my car door area
when I hear, “BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!”.
I duck, and look back over my shoulder
and see that this other guy is shooting into the crowd,
and then he takes off running.
I jump behind the wheel and take off at top speed.
10 minutes later I drive back by the club
and I see the paramedics putting Jake in an ambulance.
He received 4 gunshots to the stomach and torso.
He died 4 days later.”

Without a doubt, this will be a must read book!
You think you know,
but you have no idea until you heard the truth that B told.

The D.O.C picks his: Top 5 dead or alive

Illuminati 2G
If you could rank your personal
Top 5 rappers dead or alive who would it be?

The D.O.C;

-Biggie Smalls

-Rakim

-Slick Rick

-Eminem

-The D.O.C.

Illuminati 2G
Woah

The D.O.C;
You can scramble that around however you want, it don't matter.
All them niggas is cold (laughs)

Illuminati 2G
What about Top 5 up and coming rappers
that you think are dope that are out right now?

The D.O.C;
My favorite young rapper is Slim The Mobster.
But I am biased because he is my family but then
I am not biased because the motherfucker is cold.
Excuse my language,
I don't want to be using bad language on ya site.

Illuminati 2G
It's all good, don't worry about it.

The D.O.C;
(laughs)
Yeah Slim The Mobster reminds me of the golden era.
All those MC that I mentioned earlier,
Slim The Mobster got a little bit of all in him.
He is a throwback so Slim The Mobster and Earl Hayes are my top 2 guys.
Shit I don't listen to a whole lot of anything else.
Is Lil´Wayne up and coming?
He is up and came (laughs)

Illuminati 2G
Nah he has been around for a while.
I don't consider him new.

The D.O.C;
I don't really know or check out a lot of
the new artists that are coming out right now.
It is so many of them and they are coming from everywhere,
I have no idea where the hell all
of these dudes are poppin up from.
But I like them all,
as long as they getting money I like them,
but as far as rap that I am going to buy,
I can't wait till Slim The Mobster's record comes out.
His music does not even leave the studio,
that is how important his music
is to everyone involved, and I want a copy myself.

Bun B accepting his Source 5 MIC award (Video)

Bun also accepted the Source’s rating
and acknowledged the debate it sparked in a personal letter;

"When I started rapping,
the highest honor a real MC could
aspire to was the coveted 5 mics from Source Magazine.
It was only given to the best of the best in hip hop,
the cream of the crop so to speak.
Those that received the honor were sometimes
but not always contested,
but what WAS always contested were those that
DIDN’t receive the honor.
If you’ve ever argued about your favorite MC on a corner,
in a barbershop or on the comment section of a blog,
then you know what I’m talking about
for every album labeled a classic,
there are dozens of others that people feel deserve the honor.
So I realize that people now feel they have
to place my album next to others that they feel
were more impactful, and argue their case.
With social networking being as prevalent as it is in our society,
these arguments now take place in a very public arena,
which in order to be heard, you often have
to be very opinionated and abrasive to stand out.
So people, while having no personal hate or malice towards me,
will make very loud arguments about
The Source’s decision,
and the loudest ones will probably get the most attention.
Having been in the music industry almost 20 years,
I have learned to receive my accolades with honor and respect,
and hold my head high when the hate rains down.
I love hip hop just as much or even more than the next person,
so I understand the passion behind the argument.
At the end of the day,
we all want this thing we love to be
as real and pure as the day we fell in love with it.
Having said all this, it is with great honor and admiration that
I humbly accept this esteemed declaration from
the Source Magazine and it’s staff for my album Trill OG,
and for those that feel they need to shit
on me to argue for
another artist or album, don’t worry.
The Trill OG can take it! UGK for life!
