Rapospective; Big Break Before Break-Up | Geto Boys - We Can't Be Stopped (1991)
Rapospective youtube channel With a new distributor that was far from gunshy, the Geto Boys were on the verge of the breakthrough that a Southern and hardcore act, as well as their still-fledgling record label Rap-A-Lot Records, absolutely needed. And that explosion into the national stage—attributed to the “Mind Playing Tricks On Me” single and its accompanying 1991 album, WE CAN’T BE STOPPED—needed to happen before the fissures that were beginning to form within the group's classic lineup grew too wide to patch up. #getoboys #rapalotrecords #rapalot #jprince #houston #5thward #southernrap #scarface #willied #mindplayingtricksonme #wecantbestopped CHAPTERS: 00:00 Intro: Maintaining the Momentum 05:57 Psychosis About to Go Pop 11:55 Keepin’ It Too Real…with an Album Cover 14:40 WE CAN’T BE STOPPED Review 26:30 Splintering Within Triumph 30:24 Outro: The Foundation of Future Southern Dominance GETO BOYS SERIES: Making Trouble (1988) • Construction and Reconstruction | Geto Boy... Graff Wars - Graffiti inspired by the Star Wars universe (book video, Kontur Forlag 2010)
When the movie
Star Wars: A New Hope, premiered in 1977,
it became the foundation of what
may be the biggest pop cultural phenomenon of our time.
As the movie reached the theaters,
a subculture, originating from The Bronx, NY
started its climb to a world wide expansion rarely seen before.
The art form, the music and the dance
emerging from this subculture,
drew their inspiration from the surrounding community
and from books, cartoons, advertising and movies.
Shortly after the release of the third movie,
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
– Beat Street premiered in Europe,
and the subculture Hip Hop became a phenomenon
for young people all over the Western world.
By the late 1970s and the early 1980s,
the Star Wars’ universe was a major source
of inspiration for graffiti artists,
and Darth Vader and Storm Troopers were frequently painted
on the subway trains in New York City.
During the following years,
Star Wars as a concept surpassed the movies
and the Hip Hop culture spread throughout
Asia and Africa and became one of the
largest subcultures the world has ever seen.
New graffiti performers and new
Star Wars fans came forward,
and at the launch of
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace in 1999
rap was the biggest selling music genre in the US.
Hardly any other pop cultural phenomenon
has had a greater impact on youths these
last decades than the Star Wars’ universe has had.
18. September 2010, Kontur Publishing will issue Graff Wars,
a book documenting the great influence
the legacy of Star Wars has had on
graffiti and many of their performers.
What started out as an exclusive article about
graffiti inspired by the Star Wars movies
in the Norwegian graffiti magazine
Fat Cap’s 20th anniversary issue,
has now become the book project Graff Wars.
It will bring together graffiti
inspired by Star Wars from all over the world.
Reports about the book have got an
immense response on the Internet,
and foreign distributors have shown great interest already.
From now until the launch there will be
info about the book on
Kontur Publishing’s Facebook page,
and there will be weekly updates of photos at
the Fat Cap blog.

The Artist Block; ANTI STYLE / ALTERNATIVE GRAFFITI explained
The Artist Block youtube channel This video is all about anti-style and why it fails no matter how you go about doing it. Anti style graffiti is really a controversial topic with many people not liking it but plenty of people on the other hand love it. Regaurdless of how you feel about it, in today's video I'm going to break down the whole artform to prove why anti style graffiti doesn't work, and why it isn't what you think. See the issue with anti style is it's self defeating, because in order to make a subcategory of an art, you need to establish a consistent and formulaic fundamental set that is a derivative of the parent artform. If you cant do this then you cant create a subcategory. When we look at anti style, its mission is to not have fundamentals and this instantly makes the artform not graffiti at all as it doesn't have graffiti's fundamentals. once anti style tries to have basics, then it stops being anti style because anti style has no basics according to the practitioners of this art. even if anti style did have basics, it would then be categorized as an already existing abstract art, meaning once again, it's not anti style. if anti style chose to keep graffiti's basics but to a degraded degree then it's not adding to graffiti's fundamental set, and there for it would just be lower quality incorrectly done graffiti, like a portrait drawn badly. no matter what way you cut it anti style fails.RELATED LINKS; Is mumble rap art?

WATCH THRILLER MOVIES NOW youtube channel Title: BOMB THE SYSTEM 🌍 Summary: A tribute to graffiti art and the city where it all began. Blest, a 19-year-old graffiti writer, has just graduated from high school. With no ambition toward mainstream goals of work and family, he spends his time bombing the city with graffiti messages until he and his crew become the most wanted bombers by the corrupt NYPD Vandal Squad. He even attracts major media and gallery attention for his tags. Also part of Blest's crew are Buk 50 and his younger brother Lune, whose arrest and beating by the NYPD causes the crew to wage a full-on graffiti war against the city. As they fight with their spray cans and their tags, Blest meets a political activist, Alexandra. Soon after, Blest's relationship with Buk 50 and the crew fragments as Blest ponders his position in life.
Bomb The System wikipedia Bomb the System is a 2002 drama film written and directed by Adam Bhala Lough. It stars Mark Webber, Gano Grills, Jaclyn DeSantis, Jade Yorker, Bönz Malone, Kumar Pallana and Joey SEMZ. The story revolves around a group of graffiti artists who decide to make a mark on New York City. Bomb the System was the first major fictional feature film about the subculture of graffiti art since 1982’s Wild Style.[2] Several well-known graffiti artists participated in the making of the film, including Lee Quiñones, Cope2, Chino BYI and Keo X-Men. The film's score and soundtrack were composed by El-P. In December 2002, the film premiered at the Anchorage International Film Festival. It went on to screen at various film festivals including the Tribeca Festival.[3] It was given a limited theatrical release in American theaters on May 27, 2005. It was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature[4] and won the Audience Award at the 2003 Athens International Film Festival.[5] Cast Mark Webber as Anthony 'Blest' Campo Jaclyn DeSantis as Alexandria Jade Yorker as Kevin 'Lune' Broady Gano Grills as Justin 'Buk 50' Broady Bönz Malone as Officer Nole Shorts Kumar Pallana as Kumar Baba Joey SEMZ as Knife Production The film was expanded from Lough’s thesis project at NYU.[6][7] Lough’s fellow NYU graduates collaborated with him on the film as producer, cinematographer, and other key members of the crew. Release The film had its world premiere at the Anchorage International Film Festival in December 2002, winning the award for Best Feature.[6] After a 1-minute clip of the film was shown during the 2004 Independent Spirit Awards, Now on Media in Japan offered to acquire distribution rights. The film received a wide theatrical release in Japan on September 3, 2005.[8][9] In the US, the film was distributed by Palm Pictures and was shown in New York City and Los Angeles on May 27, 2005. The film grossed a per-screen average of $4,588.[1] Sticker controversy Shortly after the theatrical release, a movie theater in Delaware was closed down after a promotional Bomb the System sticker was found illegally posted in the theater. Due to fear of terrorism, the theater manager called the police and bomb squad and the theater was shut down for a few hours while the canine unit sniffed for bombs. Nothing was found.[10] In graffiti terminology, "bombing" has nothing to do with actual explosives, and instead refers to slang for covering a surface with graffiti.[11] Home media The film was released on DVD on October 11, 2005.[12] Critical response Rolling Stone called the film a "next-gen [sic] update of 1982's Wild Style. With strong whiffs of Trainspotting and Kids" that "distinguishes itself with streaky, Krylon-bright editing and El-P's eerie soundtrack beats."[13] Village Voice noted the movie was "birthed from a blunt-fueled blend of Aronofskian frenzy and nostalgia for the agreeable griminess of mid-'90s Wu-Tang Clan videos."[14] Los Angeles Times critic Kevin Crust wrote, "Lough's impressive, if uneven, debut feature captures the adrenaline rush and contradictory nature of the simultaneously creative and criminal activity."[15] Stephen Holden of The New York Times reviewed the film positively: "The movie runs on the synergy between this grimy but glamorous urban landscape and the emotional intensity of characters who at moments suggest contemporary descendants of the innocent, tormented teenagers in Rebel Without a Cause. Bomb the System, which rides on a subtle hip-hop soundtrack, might be described as soulful pulp; cult recognition awaits it."[16] On the critical side, The New York Post called the film "a mild, slow-moving drama that belatedly tries to argue that graffiti writers are political artists, not an urban blight".[citation needed] The New York Daily News called the film "brashly passionate in its desire to express the power and validity of graffiti art. But it's also preachy and single-minded, populated by a world of sympathetic heroes and hissable villains".[17] Sean Axmaker in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer likened the film to "tomcats spraying outside their yards."[18] Filmmaker Jim Jarmusch wrote, "For Bomb the System director Adam Lough takes far more inspiration from the on-going graffiti culture than from the depleted stylistic formulas of recent commercial cinema. His refreshing use of skewed camera angles, blasts of color, and inventive cutting are deftly blended, becoming much more than calculated atmosphere. The performances are also consistently strong, and Mark Webber in particular, in the central role, never hits a false note. Bomb the System is welcome proof that the spirit of graffiti writing has a continuing cultural influence on both the subtleties of form and explosive personal expression." Parts of the quotation ran in a Village Voice ad on the second weekend of the film's release.[citation needed] On review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes, Bomb the System has an approval rating of 32% based on 22 reviews. The site’s critics consensus reads, "Given the movie's premise, one would assume it's gritty and street-smart, but in reality it's a slave to stale cliches and formula."[19]

Kenny breaks down the entire night, as well as the lead up and the aftermath of one of Hip-Hop's most talked about events. Kenny Parker – The Unkut Interview, Part 1 about KRS-One and Ice Cube Ice Cube had that little comment. Yeah, that really started the whole thing, when Ice Cube said, “Some rappers are heaven sent/but Self Destruction don’t pay the fuckin’ rent!” That line kinda pissed Kris off. “Self Destruction” was his baby – the concept, gettin’ all the rappers together – the whole thing was his baby, and Ice Cube just came out and dissed. Later, Ice Cube came out and said he ain’t really mean it like Kris took it. I don’t really know what other way he coulda meant, but that’s what he said. He might’ve just meant that positive records don’t sell. It’s hard to say though, in retrospect. In retrospect, I’m gonna say “whatever” to his answer. He also said on his first album: “I’m not a rebel or a renegade or none of that crap, I’m a N-I-double-G-A”, and everyone knows Kris says “Rebel, renegade, must stay paid”. So you hear all stuff like that and you’re like “OK, this guys dissin'”, but Kris didn’t really…I remember him being a little pissed, but he didn’t really say “I’m gonna answer Ice Cube”…actually, you know what? That’s a lie. We started doing a song about, say, Ice Cube, a response to that, but we never finished it. It was one of those spur-of-the-moment things and then it was like “Ah, this is wack. You know what? Forget this”. Now moving along, then X-Clan made “Fire and Earth”. Read rest of the Kenny Parker – The Unkut Interview, Part 1 X-Clan, PM Dawn and Ice Cube

DjVlad; MC Serch: MC Hammer Put a $50k Hit on Me Over Dissing His Mother on a Song
VladTV youtube channel MC Serch spoke to VladTV about how Pete Nice's line on "The Cactus," where he said, "The cactus turned Hammer's mother out," led to MC Hammer allegedly putting a hit out on him and the group. Serch explained the personal and professional reasons why they dissed Hammer, which involved Hammer's diss to Run DMC. MC Serch went on to explain how The Rollin 60's Crips were offered $50,000 to take out the group, which was mediated by Mike Concepcion, a prominent member of the group. Despite having one of Mike's men with them for protection, Serch explained how the group was tried several times while they were in L.A. for their album release party. He also explained how the situation has affected him his entire life and led him to work things out in therapy. To hear the full story, hit the above video. Twisted Black of One Gud Cide; Cried writing this fr‼️
Twisted Black
One Gud Cide wikipedia One Gud Cide was an American hip-hop duo based out of Fort Worth, Texas. Formed in 1991 by Twisted Black and Shawn Jackson the group is revered among many modern rappers for their pioneering approach to portraying urban violence through hip hop. In 2006 Twisted Black was sentenced to 30 years in jail for a fourth offense cocaine conspiracy charge.[1] HISTORY One Gud Cide was formed in 1991 by Twisted Black and Shawn Jackson, eventually Evil Seed became a member of the Fort Worth based group. The group's initial progress was slowed when Twisted Black was shot in the face and lost half of his jaw in what he claimed was an assassination attempt.[2] By 1995, the group had achieved underground success with the album Look What The Streets Made, which sold 10,000 copies in less than 30 days. The group's career was interrupted once again when Twisted Black, whose real name is Tommy Burns, was sentenced to three years in prison on a parole violation. Work on the group's follow-up album Contradictions was interrupted by that incident.[3] Contradictions was finished and eventually released in 1999 on Suave House Records. It included contributions from hip hop mainstays like Eightball of Eightball & MJG fame and UGK. In 2002, Evil Seed reported quit the group because Twisted Black was working on his first solo album,[4] eventually entitled Late Bloomer.[5] Twisted Black's most recent album, Street Fame was released in March 2007 on TVT Records a label with a history of promoting Dirty South artists.[6] Meanwhile, Twisted Black was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of conspiracy to distribute cocaine.[7]

Graffiti Veriti a Los Angeles graffiti documentary by Bob Bryan 1995
Info via Amazon; Contributors; -Angst -Bob Bryan -Chaz Bojorquez -Cre8 -Demer -Designine -Duke -Emuse -Excite -Jipsie -Manone -Mear -Minor -Nerv -PJay (LA) -Prime -Relic -Risk; MSK / WCA -Skept -Skew -Snake Doctor -Toonz -Tribe Director / Producer / Director of Photography, Bob Bryan has produced for BRYAN WORLD PRODUCTIONS an amazing new Multi-Award Winning Documentary that explores the eclectic world of Hip Hop and the urban Graffiti Artist. GRAFFITI VERITE' is a 45 minute groundbreaking Documentary that includes interviews and behind the scenes views of 24 of Los Angeles' most prolific and talented Graffiti Artists. GRAFFITI VERITE's conversations vary from comparative discussions on Graffiti's ancestral connection to Ritualistic Hieroglyphics and cave writings to discussions of Graffiti Art as a form of street-level propaganda and Public Art Gallery for the anonymous public. Graffiti Art succeeds as underground counter-programming which is aimed at the same target audience that the Powerful Madison Avenue Mass Media is directed at, albeit with a decidedly different message.... Graffiti Art has a contact visceral effect on its audience because Graf Art goes way beyond Art orderliness and conventions, expressing itself through complex design lettering patterns (wild-style), rude colors and strange characters. Graffiti Artists dare to communicate to us, by any means, despite the misconceptions and restrictions! Yet, paradoxically Graffiti Art is still all about Fame and Popularity. In GRAFFITI VERITE', a Graffiti Artist recalls that when he was in Grade school his teacher asked him What do you want to be when you grow up? His response, I want to be either a Terrorist or an Artist... GRAFFITI VERITE' is the first up close and personal expose' into the Graffiti Art World as experienced by 24 ARTISTS whose artistic tool of choice is the Spray can. I quickly discovered as I was shooting GRAFFITI VERITE', says Bob Bryan, & how serious and dedicated these Artists are about their work. The real truth about Graffiti Art completely destroys the old stereotyped image that Graffiti is only about vandalism and tag-banging. Nothing could be further from the truth! These inspired artists efforts are Art Intended, irregardless of whether or not they paint on a wall or a canvas. Bob Bryan, Director / Executive Producer / Director of Photography From Street Art to Gallery Art Showings GRAFFITI VERITE' (The truth about Graffiti) forces us to re-think about our Cultural Reality as well as to expose us to more cutting edge Graffiti Art than has even been seen before in one venue. GRAFFITI VERITE' is a must-see Video if you care at all about what's happening to our culture as well as to the inner world of our children. Ready or not, GRAFFITI ART is the next Great Art Movement after POP ART!RELATED LINKS; Graffiti Wars; A matter of pride (Los Angeles, documentary 1991) AND Eye on L.A featuring Risky AND Graffiti Verite'

Rapospective; Menace to the Free World | Convicts - Convicts (Rap-A-Lot records 1991)
Rapospective youtube channel Constructed behind a trail of destruction from the Geto Boys, Convicts—consisting of Big Mike and Mr. 3-2 —was the next group from an ascendant Rap-A-Lot Records. But with their debut (and only) album, a self-titled LP released in 1991, they were more than just another troublesome unit from Houston. The Convicts, true to their name, were primed for enacting absolute terror: whether in the pen or in the so-called “free world.” And their often overlooked audio statement proved to be a little more influential and groundbreaking than it’s given credit for. #convicts #rapalotrecords #5thward #getoboys #bigmike #mr32 CHAPTERS: 00:00 Intro: Welcome to the Free World 02:28 Preparing for the Pen 03:00 CONVICTS Review 15:48 Out of Time for a Second Album 18:14 Outro: Parole Denied SELECTED REFERENCES AND RESOURCES: Billboard.com. https://www.billboard.com Caldwell, Brandon. “One Day: Remembering Mr. 3-2, The Governor & Wicked Buddah Baby.” Houston Press.
