Bomber & Graphotism is no more > R.I.P :(

It would appear that after 20 years Graphotism has died. This and Bomber magazine in the same month… For those of you who can remember graff before the internet, Graffiti magazines was pretty much the only way you saw graff apart from in the flesh or trading photos.

Classic Hits book preview by Dokument

The guys of Dokument Press put a trailer on the net of their upcoming book Classic Hits. It seems that we have to save some money for this Spring!

Classic Hits — New York’s Pioneering Subway Graffiti Writers,
is a book by Alan Fleisher and Paul Iovino, with Introduction by Phase 2.
Classic Hits is the most visual book on early 1970s graffiti ever published!
Early 70s New York saw the growth of a new phenomenon.
Graffiti is the greatest and most influential artistic movement of our time.
It was created by kids, for kids.
In Classic Hits, the key persons and pioneers tell their own story.
Classic Hits is an eye- opening first-hand story told in unique pictures and text.
From Taki 183 to Blade to Iz the Wiz.
Their names have garnered star status far beyond graffiti culture,
and without them, no Seen, no Banksy, no Revok.
In Classic Hits, the pioneers talk about
how they got started and where graffiti took them.
Together, the essays offer an invaluable picture of graffiti in the early, playful years.
Author Alan Fleisher started writing graffiti in the Bronx in 1972.
Un- like most, he always carried his camera with him.
Through his many adventures in the subway depots,
he got to know several of the greatest writers of New York.
His experiences give Classic Hits a unique insider view.
Essays and quotations by:
Ale One, All Jive 161, Blade, Cay 161, Checker 170, Clyde,
Death, Fdt 56, Flint 707, Iz The Wiz, Jester 1, Joe 182, Lava, Lsd OM,
Mico, Pnut 2, Roger 1, Ski 168, Snake 1, Taki 183 and Vamm.

Debate: Is “5 Mics” In The Source Still Relevant? (Video)

The Internet has changed the Music Industry forever.
Since fans and critics can access the music at the same time,
does this make “album reviews” redundant?
Where does this leave
The Source Magazines
classic album rating system “5 Mics”?
How should it evolve?

Utah & Ether X Sekt Cap Adapters

Sekt cap adapter probably is one of the smartest inventions for Asia
graffiti writers in recent years.
For those who may not know, the local
cans from Asia are mostly male valve cans.
There were very limited cap choices
back then when graffiti was getting started.
Of course now the Asia writers
have more options like
MTN, Belton, Ironlak, Montana gold, and many more
other brands that makes you doubt
if there is such a big market in Asia?
Anyway, if you want to use the local cans
which cost cheaper (the quality too),
Sekt would be helpful as it is a cap adapter
which allows you to switch the cap system
of male valve cans
- turn it to female, like the ladyboy from Thailand.
So next,
plug any cap you want and you know how it works.
The following video
shows you the couple in crime testing out Sekt in Bangkok.
