Rapospective; Menace to the Free World | Convicts - Convicts (Rap-A-Lot records 1991)
Rapospective youtube channel
Constructed behind a trail of destruction from the Geto Boys, Convicts—consisting of Big Mike and Mr. 3-2 —was the next group from an ascendant Rap-A-Lot Records. But with their debut (and only) album, a self-titled LP released in 1991, they were more than just another troublesome unit from Houston. The Convicts, true to their name, were primed for enacting absolute terror: whether in the pen or in the so-called “free world.” And their often overlooked audio statement proved to be a little more influential and groundbreaking than it’s given credit for.
