Fatcap is one of the leading underground magazines within the areas of urban art and hip hop culture in Scandinavia. The magazine is also one of the oldest in its genre, and the first issue of Fatcap was published as early as 1989. 17 issues of the magazine have been published so far, and issue number 18 will be released in in the spring/Summer of 2010. The profile of Fatcap has since the magazine’s inception been varied, and the magazine has covered a host of different subjects, focusing on topics covering everything from modern urban street art to most of the different sub genres within contemporary hip hop culture. Past issues have among other things included interviews with hip hop and graffiti artists, pieces on art, music, and other related artistic expressions of urban culture, as well as reviews of books, movies, and records/CD’s. Fatcap has also featured several interviews with well known international artists and representatives of hip hop culture, including Bishop Lamont, Madness4Real, Bun B of UGK, Fat Joe, Lords of the Underground, Digable Planets, Hijack, and Gunshot from the UK, as well as legends of graffiti and street art like Seen, Cope 2 and lots more. Fatcap has always had an international focus and has been distributed to large parts of Europe as well as to the US. The magazine has so far been available in 17 countries, and has received lasting world wide recognition. Scandinavia has and will always be the main target audience.
